Why We’re Here

Everything Burns is a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in early 2009 by the members of the pop rock band SHIROCK (www.shirock.net) out of Nashville, TN around the phrase “live for things that matter.” After playing concerts at several high schools in the Southeast, the band noticed that many young people were passionate about helping provide a solution to different social issues plaguing our country and world. Most of the students the band talked with said they wanted to make a difference and help people, however they felt like they did not have the resources or the know-how to actually have an impact. SHIROCK wanted to bridge this gap and provide simple, hands on ways for students to make a difference. Thus the idea for Everything Burns was born.

For their first project, SHIROCK headlined an Everything Burns tour with proceeds going to local homeless shelters in the visited cities. After the tour, Everything Burns partnered with Compassion International to raise funds for mosquito nets in order to protect people in African countries threatened by malaria. At their concerts, the band was able to sell EB logo armbands, with the proceeds from the sales going towards mosquito nets.

Currently, Everything Burns is working to launch individual chapters on high school and college campuses across the United States. With each EB chapter, students partner with each other and EB to choose social issues (locally, regionally or globally) in which they want to be involved. EB helps the students identify a social issue they want to be a part of solving.
